The Health Minister has urged more private general practitioners to be involved with the National COVID-19 Immunisation program.

The government is in talks to allow the private healthcare sector to purchase their own supply of the COVID-19 vaccine.

However, the National COVID-19 Immunisation Program’s coordinating minister Khairy Jamaluddin, warned Malaysians not to expect private vaccinations anytime soon.

He says private healthcare providers may struggle to source their own vaccine supplies, due to high global demand, and adds that these vaccinations may only be rolled out late this year.

On another note, Khairy Jamaluddin says the immunisation program will enter phase two on April 19th.

He adds that recipients will be notified of their vaccine appointments as early as two weeks before the kick-off date.
