The government has decided to maintain the various Movement Control Orders for the next two weeks.

This means that Selangor, KL, Johor, Penang, Kelantan and Sarawak will continue to be under the Conditional MCO.

Meanwhile, the Defence Minister says the Recovery MCO will be maintained in 10 other states and regions, namely Perlis, Kedah, Perak, Putrajaya, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Terengganu, Sabah and Labuan.

Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob says the respective orders will be in effect until April 14, except for Sarawak, whose CMCO is due to end on April 12.

APHM hopes to purchase COVID-19 vaccines as soon as possible

The Association of Private Hospitals Malaysia hopes that private healthcare facilities will be allowed to obtain their own supply of COVID-19 vaccines.

Its President Datuk Dr Kuljit Singh told us that they are ready to work with the government immediately.

Dr Kuljit adds that by doing so, private vaccination drives could be rolled out by as early as mid-year.

He also assured that this will not affect the availability of vaccines allocated under the National Immunisation Program.

Currently, over 7.3 million people have registered for the government’s vaccination plan.

Over 1,100 new COVID-19 cases

Malaysia reported 1,133 new COVID-19 cases today.

Selangor had the highest number of infections followed by Penang, and Sarawak.

Meanwhile, the death toll has risen to 1,265 after five more patients succumbed to the virus.
