Health DG: Msia's spike in Covid-19 infections due to several factors
Jul 14, 2021

The country’s spike in Covid-19 infections is due to several factors.
Health Director General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah explains that among others, it's because of the emergence of new variants.
He says it's also because of mass testing being conducted in Enhanced MCO areas in Selangor, KL, and Negeri Sembilan.

Malaysia reported 11,079 Covid-19 cases yesterday, the highest ever reported in a single day.
Almost half of the total was detected in Selangor alone.
The Health Ministry also recorded 125 fatalities.

Separately, the Health Minister says the government is to introduce new measures to combat skyrocketing Covid-19 cases in the Klang Valley.
This includes taking bed capacity past 5,000, with the PM promising another 100 million ringgit to outsource health services in the region.
