UMNO Minister quits Cabinet position

UMNO has retracted its support for the Perikatan Nasional government and PM Tan SriMuhyiddin Yassin.

Its President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says he has presented letters signed by a sufficient number of UMNO MPs to prove the PM has lost his majority, to the King.

Shortly after Zahid's announcement yesterday, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah resigned from cabinet.

The Lenggong MP is the first UMNO minister to do so, so far.

Police will call opposition MPs and individuals who had gathered on Monday at Dataran Merdeka and attempted to enter the Parliament premises.

The IGP says they had received 260 reports on the incident, which was incited by the decision to postpone the Dewan Rakyat sittings.
