UMNO Minister quits Cabinet position

UMNO has retracted its support for the Perikatan Nasional government and PM Tan SriMuhyiddin Yassin.

Its President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says he has presented letters signed by a sufficient number of UMNO MPs to prove the PM has lost his majority, to the King.

Shortly after Zahid's announcement yesterday, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah resigned from cabinet.

The Lenggong MP is the first UMNO minister to do so, so far.

Police will call opposition MPs and individuals who had gathered on Monday at Dataran Merdeka and attempted to enter the Parliament premises.

The IGP says they had received 260 reports on the incident, which was incited by the decision to postpone the Dewan Rakyat sittings.

Active Covid-19 cases in the country have soared past the 200,000 mark!

This is after 17,105 cases were reported yesterday, with some 203,000 people being treated for the virus.

We also recorded 195 Covid-19 fatalities, pushing the death toll to almost 9,600.
