Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri appointed PM

The question of who will become Malaysia’s 9th Prime Minister has been answered, with UMNO Vice President Datuk Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob appointed the top post.
Istana Negara says the swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to go ahead at 2.30pm tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong decreed that with the appointment of Datuk Seri Ismail, the government must continue with efforts to combat the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Another record number of new COVID-19 cases
Malaysia hit another grim milestone, after we reported a record breaking 23,564 new COVID-19 cases today.
The bulk of the total was detected in Selangor, while Sabah had the second most cases, followed by Sarawak.
Labuan had one.

Almost 30mil COVID-19 vaccine doses now given out nationwide
The National COVID-19 Immunisation Program has now administered close to 30 million vaccine doses.
Nearly 18 million people have already received their first shot, which accounts for around 76% of the adulty population.
Some 517,000 people were given the shot yesterday, with most of the doses given to second time recipients.
It’s also the fourth consecutive day that daily vaccinations passed the half a million mark.
