Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali has taken his oath as Melaka’s new Chief Minister.

The swearing-in was conducted at the office of the Yang DiPertua Negeri at around 1am this morning.

Datuk Seri Sulaiman adds that his exco lineup for the state government will be announced next week.

It comes after he won the Lendu seat in yesterday’s Melaka state election.

Overall, BN won 21 of the 28 seats on offer.

Pakatan Harapan ended up taking five seats, while Perikatan Nasional won two.

Among the other notable results, PN’s chief minister candidate Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin lost to BN's Datuk Seri Rauf Yusoh.

Also, none of the 4 assemblymen who triggered the election when they withdrew their support for the previous administration, won their seats.

The Election Commission says the final voter turnout for the Malacca polls was just under 66 percent.
