Irresponsible to hold GE15 amid COVID-19 situation
Nov 27, 2021
Now is not the time to hold the 15th General Election.
Khairy Jamaluddin says it's because of Malaysia's current COVID-19 situation, as well as a rise in hospital admissions.
The Health Minister adds that this also follows the emergence of a new variant which was first detected in Africa.
As such, he says is would be irresponsible to hold a general election any time soon.

Mandatory quarantine for Msians returning from Africa
Malaysians are now banned from travelling to seven African countries, due to the emergence of a new COVID-19 variant.
However, Khairy Jamaluddin says Malaysians and permanent residents returning home from these nations will be allowed entry.
They must undergo mandatory quarantine for two weeks at designated facilities, regardless of their vaccination status.
Meanwhile, the Health Minister says a temporary entry ban will be enforced on foreigners who are not permanent resident pass holders or without working visas.
Khairy says based on reports, the new variant has double the mutations than the fast-spreading Delta variant.
