MOH bans several countries, territories from Langkawi tourism bubble

Travellers from the UK, Hong Kong, Australia, and Japan are among 26 countries that the Health Ministry will prohibit from participating in the Langkawi travel bubble.
Apart from tourists, individuals with travel history to the countries and territories in the past 14 days will also be denied entry into Langkawi.
This following the emergence of the newly identified Omicron Covid-19 variant overseas.
There are currently no Omicron cases here in Malaysia.
515 new cases involving the Covid-19 Delta variant were detected in the last 7 days.
The Health Ministry says there are now over 4,500 cases involving variants of concern.
The majority of which involves the Delta variant.
Malaysia’s Covid-19 cases are on an upward trend.
We reported 5,806 new infections, with 1.8% of them having moderate to severe symptoms.
