The Health Ministry says its proposed amendments to raise the maximum compounds for COVID SOP violations are necessary.

Its Minister Khairy Jamaluddin says stiffer penalties are needed as some companies are repeat offenders that have triggered clusters.

A study has found that around 13% of women and teenage girls in KL can’t afford to purchase sanitary pads.

The Women, Family, and Community Development Ministry says the study involved those from the low-income group.

Because of this, it has taken several measures to combat the issue, including distributing hygiene kits to some 130,000 teenagers.
