Flood aid channeled to affected states, distributed to recipients in 3 ways

The government has started distributing the cash assistance promised to flood victims.

The Chief Secretary to the Government says the aid will be distributed via three channels... at designated disaster operations control centres, via door-to-door cash handouts, or electronic funds transfer.

The government had earlier said that RM1,000 will be given to affected households.

The next of kin of those who died due to the floods will receive RM10,000.

The first Covid-19 community cluster has been detected among flood victims at a temporary flood shelter in Bentong, Pahang.

The case index for this cluster is a local woman who was found positive last week.

So far, 10 people have tested positive after screening over 100 people.

Several areas in Kajang were hit by flash floods, following heavy rain yesterday.

The Fire and Rescue Department says floodwaters have receded and no victims had to be evacuated in the incident.
