We can't afford a total COVID-19 lockdown
Jan 10, 2022
The Health Minister admits that China’s strategy to enforce a total COVID-19 lockdown IS effective.
However, Khairy Jamaluddin says Malaysia can’t afford to emulate such measures due to economic reasons and the welfare of the rakyat.
He says instead, Malaysia uses mitigation strategies such as ramping up vaccinations and enforcing strict SOPs.
This is after a second city in China was placed under lockdown after it reported just three cases recently.

Those who have completed their COVID-19 home quarantine order can soon visit more locations to have their digital tracking devices removed.
Authorities say the new locations will be opened starting tomorrow, which will operate from 9am to 5pm daily.
It’s because of an earlier incident, where many people were queuing at an existing facility to remove their tracker.
