Those involved with fake certs should face harsh punishment
Jan 12, 2022
The issuance of fake COVID-19 vaccination certificates will not only hinder efforts to reopen our borders safely, but also affect the health and safety of the people.
Because of this, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein wants harsh punishment to be imposed on those involved in such activities.
“Let’s get to the bottom of it, I want the full force of the law on them, and I want to make sure that they realize there is a limit in trying to profit and make money, at the expense of people’s lives” he said.
The Defence Minister also wants authorities to step up their efforts in curbing the issue.
This is after a private clinic doctor in Terengganu was remanded for allegedly giving out fake certs.

Full-scale MCO will not be imposed again
The Defence Minister has not ruled out the possibility of enforcing stricter measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
However, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein stressed that the government will not reimpose a full-scale Movement Control Order.
He adds that the measures, including tougher border control, however, will depend on the latest development involving the Omicron variant.
So far, 245 Omicron infections have been reported in Malaysia, with the majority involving those who returned from overseas.

16 COVID clusters involving Umrah pilgrims
16 COVID-19 clusters have been detected involving Umrah pilgrims returning from Saudi Arabia.
So far, seven of the clusters’ index cases were confirmed to be of the Omicron variant.
Meanwhile, the Health Ministry says six are suspected to be Omicron index cases.
The clusters involve nearly 220 patients, who are asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic.
