The government is waiting for an Education Ministry report on Covid-19 school clusters before making any decision about the schooling session.

It follows a recent spike in infections involving education institutions.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob says if schools were to be closed again, it will have a negative impact on students, because not all of them have full access to online lessons.

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is in stable condition, at the coronary care unit at IJN.

His daughter, Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir, says the former Prime Minister has been receiving follow-up treatment over the past two days, following a successful elective procedure earlier this month.

She says Tun Mahathir has been responding well to treatment, and urged Malaysians to pray for a speedy recovery.

Johor caretaker Menteri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohamad says the state government had to call for an early election, in order to win a strong mandate from the people.

This, after the administration was recently reduced to a one-seat majority.

Hasni’s statement came after the Johor Sultan earlier gave his royal assent to dissolve the Johor assembly, paving the way for a state election.
