Government sets up new committee to tackle inflation

The Cabinet has formed a special task force to come up with strategies to tackle inflation and rising prices of goods.

The Prime Minister says the team will meet twice a week, after which it will hold a press conference to address the issues raised by the people.

A consumer group says the new RM9.40 per kg ceiling price for chicken is too high.

The Consumers Association of Penang says this will be too much of a burden for the B40 group in particular.

It also urged the authorities to ensure that poultry sellers will not impose any additional charges for cutting the chickens, which will drive the actual price higher.

Nearly 60 million ringgit has been lost to online fraud in Selangor during the first six months of the year.

The state police chief says the bulk of the cases involved the Macau Scam.

He adds that Selangor police will also be running a month-long anti-scam campaign, to help address the issue.
