Undi-18: New committee set to educate student voters

The Higher Education Ministry will be setting up a committee to educate student voters.
It will consist of representatives from public universities and institutions, as well as the Election Commission.
The Ministry is also hoping that voter education programs can be expanded to private institutions as well…especially with the implementation of Undi-18.
In a related development, Malaysians aged 18 and above in July, as well as voters who’ve applied for change of constituency or status…can check their particulars in the Election Commission’s Supplementary Electoral Roll for July.

The government has set a target for at least 10 million Malaysians to remain healthy over the next 10 years.
The Health Minister says they’re aiming for that figure…because based on rough estimates, a million Malaysians get sick every year due to conditions that can be avoided.
This means that under the target, its hoped that 10 million Malaysians would not have to be referred to hospitals due to conditions like diabetes, heart disease and hypertension.

The Immigration Department will be coming up with advisory messages, to alert people about dubious offers of high-paying jobs overseas.
It says the public needs to be careful about these offers, as they could be from syndicates duping Malaysians to work overseas as scammers.
The Department says that while it cannot stop people from leaving the country if they’re not on the restricted list, it wants to do its part to create awareness about these potential scams.

The Defense Minister says the proposal for a Royal Commission of Inquiry to probe the Littoral Combat Ship scandal will be presented to the Cabinet today.
