The number of flood evacuees in Johor is down slightly to around 36 thousand.

Batu Pahat remains the worst-hit by far… with Muar, Segamat and Tangkak the other districts affected.

This, as a Johor exco member said the state suffered at least 168 million ringgit in infrastructure damage due to the flooding there.

He adds that the figure is expected to rise further, because they’ve yet to assess the damage in some areas that are still flooded.

The Transport Ministry is once again encouraging airlines to boost capacity, to prevent airfares from increasing.

This is especially so for peak travel periods like school holidays and the festive season.

Minister Anthony Loke says he’s hoping the airlines can seek a win-win situation, because the government is against imposing a price ceiling, as this can have a negative effect on the aviation sector.

Police will call in several people, including Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, to record statements over the alleged defamation of the Prime Minister.

This, after the cops opened an investigation paper into the alleged defamatory statement, which was made after Tan Sri Muhyiddin was charged in court last week.

The Youth and Sports Ministry will hold free swimming lessons for underprivileged kids in selected states.

This is to teach kids the importance of water safety, especially in states where there is a high number of drowning cases.

The Customs Department says the 10 percent tax on low-value goods from overseas has been suspended indefinitely.

The new tax was supposed to come into effect on April 1st.

And, Ipoh plans to make Oscar winner Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh among the first inductees of its planned Hall of Fame to honour prominent personalities from the city.
