Mar 20, 2023

segamat fully recovers from flooding

The flood situation in Segamat has fully recovered, with all evacuees there allowed to return home.

This leaves Batu Pahat as the only district in Johor that is still affected by floods.

The National Disaster Management Agency says there are slightly over ten thousand evacuees still seeking shelter at relief centers there, as at early this morning.

Meanwhile, officials in Johor say students affected by the floods there have been given a two-month exemption from wearing their school uniforms.

Efforts are also being taken to identify students who are in need of other forms of assistance, to ensure the learning process is not interrupted.

There is no decision yet on legalizing the use of cannabis for medical purposes.

The Prime Minister says the matter requires in-depth research and discussions…especially on the issue of controlling the use of the substance.

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim adds that any decision on medical cannabis also needs to take into account the rising number of drug addicts among young people.

A recent study shows that Klang Valley motorists spend an average of 500 hours a year stuck in traffic jams.

This is costing them around 3,600 ringgit …in the form of fuel and loss of productivity.

An expert told Harian Metro among the main reasons for the congestion is the high number of vehicles on the road, reliance on private transportation and roadworks.
