MOH mulls bringing back face masks for schools

The Health Ministry will propose reimplementing the usage of face masks in all schools again.
This is in an effort to avoid a spike of Covid-19 cases due to the emergence of the new Arcturus subvariant.
Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa told Berita Harian a meeting will be held with the Education Ministry soon to discuss the matter, with the guidelines and SOPs to be announced ahead of the reopening of schools on May 2nd.

Separately, The Health Ministry is ready to work with the Education Ministry to tackle the problem of vape addiction among students.
The Minister says she’s concerned by the number of young people picking up the habit, and her ministry is ready to collaborate on things like awareness campaigns.
It follows a claim by the Consumers Association of Penang…that a significant number of young kids are addicted to vaping, using devices owned by their family members.

Seven areas nationwide are currently under a level-one heat alert, with expected temperatures of between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius.
Three of the locations are in Kelantan…two are in Kedah…with one each in Terengganu and Sabah.
Meanwhile, officials in Perak say water levels at two of the state’s main dams are still good, despite then hot and dry spell.
This, after Penang yesterday informed that it will be carrying out cloud seeding soon, due to a drop in water levels at its main dams.

A detailed investigation into yesterday’s landslide at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Academy in KL will be conducted today.
A technical team, comprising slope experts and members of the Mineral and Geoscience Department as well as other agencies, will be involved in the probe.
