Cops All Geared Up For State Polls

PDRM is taking all necessary steps to ensure next month’s state elections are held smoothly and safely.
It says over nine thousand additional personnel will be deployed to assist with the polls, including guarding ballot boxes.
The IGP also gave his assurance that all police investigations into election-related offences will be completed in seven days from the day the report was received.

In a separate development, the Inspector General of Police says investigations into three political leaders for allegedly touching on 3R topics are almost complete.
He says all three have had their statements recorded, with investigation papers expected to be submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chambers sometime this week.

Workshops now need to display the names of mechanics and their qualifications.
The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry says this is part of amendments to the regulations that were gazetted last year, but took effect nationwide earlier this month.
It is to help consumers make informed decisions and to encourage workshops to hire qualified mechanics.
Under the amendment, operators also need to give a clear description of the spare parts being used, including whether they are new, used or reconditioned.
