Flood Numbers Rise In Kedah

The number of flood evacuees in Kedah has increased overnight to over 1,800.
According to the National Disaster Management Agency…the victims are being housed at relief centers in Baling, Kubang Pasu and Kota Setar.
Meanwhile, there are also currently around 47 flood evacuees in Arau, Perlis.

Meanwhile, authorities in Selangor are urging residents along the coastal areas to brace for the high-tide phenomenon from today until Monday.
They say there is a possibility of flash floods, if the high-tide coincides with heavy rain.

Air quality in parts of KL and Selangor has worsened this morning.
According to the Department of Environment…Johan Setia and Kuala Selangor…as well as Batu Muda and Cheras all have unhealthy API readings.
At last look…Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya…Nilai, Negeri Sembilan…Taiping and Tasek Ipoh in Perak… and Serian, Sarawak also have borderline unhealthy levels.

The Malaysian Medical Association wants more allocations under Budget 2024 for the Madani medical scheme.
It says the scheme has helped to decongest the public healthcare system, though its partnerships with private clinics.
The MMA is also hoping the initiative can be expanded to cover the management of non-communicable diseases.
