Flood Conditions Worsen in Kelantan

The number of flood evacuees in Kelantan has risen further to over 800 as of this morning.
The victims are being housed at four relief centers Pasir Mas, Bachok and Kota Bharu.
This, as the Met Department issued an alert for continuous rain for parts of Kelantan and Terengganu from today until Sunday.
It also means that wet weather should be expected during tomorrow’s polling for the Kemaman parliamentary by-election in Terengganu.

Malaysia has been ranked third in Asia behind Singapore and the Philippines for English proficiency.
This is according to the 2023 EF English Proficiency Index…which also ranked us 25th globally.
The index also categorized Kuala Lumpur as a city with high English profiency.

The Human Resources Ministry has vowed to crack down on forced labour in the country.
Its minister acknowledged that the problem still exists in Malaysia, although the number of cases is not high.
This comes following a claim by a foreign-based activist, that there may be up to 200 thousand-plus victims of modern slavery in Malaysia.

The Environment Department says it needs three thousand additional personnel to cope with its increased workload and the rising number of pollution cases.
Its hoping its request for additional manpower will be approved, so that it can continue monitoring the over 60 thousand factories and workshops that have the potential to cause air or water pollution.
