consider reviewing 30% quota for women

The Women, Family, and Community Development Minister wants the government to reconsider its 30 percent quota for having women in decision-making positions within the public sector.

Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri says this is because currently, around 42 percent of women in the government workforce are already actively participating in such roles.

She adds that many women now also possess the qualifications and experience to compete equally with men in key positions across various service levels.

The Selangor Menteri Besar has plans to turn the Greater Klang Valley area into a special economic zone, to increase the area’s potential.

Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari says he will meet the PM soon to go over the proposal.

The initiative will involve four cities in Selangor – Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya, Shah Alam and Klang.

11 locations have been identified around Selangor, where speed traps will be conducted during the Chinese New Year travel period.

The operation will begin from Thursday until the 13th.

State police will also be deploying drones and helicopter units to monitor traffic in real time.

Meanwhile a massive influx of vehicles is expected to enter Perak on peak days ahead of Chinese New Year.

A state exco member says an estimated 2.5 million vehicles will be entering the state during this period via the North South Expressway and federal roads.

And, Buckingham Palace has announced that Britain’s King Charles has been diagnosed with cancer.

The type of cancer has not been revealed, although the monarch has already started treatment.
