MTUC: Raise Minimum Wage Now

Unions want the government to review the minimum wage, nearly two years after it was raised to RM1,500. 

According to the Malaysian Trades Union Congress, this is in line with the relevant law, that states that the minimum wage should be reviewed every two years.  

MTUC adds that currently, there is an urgent need for the minimum wage to be raised.  

It's top help workers cope with the recent increase in the SST rate, and higher living costs.

The government has no plans to ban social media apps.  

The Communications Minister says instead, the government feels is better to work with the platforms to make sure they comply with local laws.  

This, as US lawmakers are considering banning TikTok unless it cuts ties with its Chinese owner.

Meanwhile, Fahmi Fadzil also told the told the Dewan Rakyat that the government is looking at several measures to shield children from harmful online content. 

However, he says it is ultimately the parents’ responsibility to monitor their kids’ online activities.

He adds that with proper parental supervision, children can benefit from positive social media content.

The Health Ministry says minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad is in stable condition after being hospitalised for renal cholic.  

The condition is decribed as pain that's caused by kidney stones.

And the PM's Department says the government has no plans to nominate KL's Kampung Bharu to be a UNESCO heritage site.

It's because doing so would affect any redevelopment plans for the historic village.
