The Education Minister has defended the directive for canteens to remain open during the fasting month, in schools with non-Muslim students.

She says a similar directive was also issued last year…adding that its unfair to expect students who are not fasting to eat in unsuitable areas outside the canteen.

The Minister said this in response to a statement by an Opposition MP…who described the directive to keep canteens open as ‘excessive’.

Social media providers have removed nearly six and a half thousand pieces of content deemed manipulative or false…from January last year to March 1st this year.

The Communications Ministry says this is part of the government’s effort to address the spread of fake content…especially with the rise of AI technology.

There are no plans to make any structural amendments to the Rukun Negara.

The National Unity Ministry says this is because the existing aspirations and principles are sufficient to instill the spirit of patriotism.

The Land Public Transport Agency says economy express bus fares will be increased by 10 percent for travel during the Hari Raya period, due to a festive season surcharge.

And, the US House of Representatives has passed a bill that could see TikTok being banned in America.

The bill gives the platform’s Chinese owner six months to sell its controlling stake, failing which the app will be blocked for US users.
