The current hot weather is expected to last until at least the middle of next month.

Met Malaysia says this is because of a lack of rainclouds…and the spring equinox – when the sun is directly overhead on the equatorial line.

The department says during this period, temperatures could hit between 35 and 38 degrees Celsius, depending on cloud cover.

Malaysia’s aggregate household debt stood at over 1.5 trillion ringgit as at the end of last year.

The Prime Minister says this is a steady increase since 2018.

He adds that the bulk of last year’s debt was made up of housing loans…accounting for 60 percent of the overall figure.

This was followed by vehicle loans and personal financing.

Malaysians are being urged not to forget the lessons we learned from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah says we should always remember the spirit of unity and community that we showed amidst the crisis.

The former Health Director-General adds that we also need to further invest in and improve our healthcare system, to help prepare us for future challenges.

He said this, to mark the fourth anniversary of our unprecedented Covid lockdown yesterday.

There are no plans at the moment to impose a ceiling price for vegetables, despite an anticipated 25 percent price hike soon.

The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry says it will continue to monitor traders, and take appropriate action if any of them raise prices excessively.
