Another Hot Week Ahead

Mar 20, 2024

another hot week ahead

We should expect the hot spell to continue for at least another week.

This is after MetMalaysia said it expects most parts of the Peninsular and Sabah experience daytime temperatures exceeding 35 degrees Celsius for the next 7 days.

However, the west coast of the peninsular and Sarawak will likely see heavy rain and thunderstorms in the evening.

Meanwhile, Perlis remained under a Level-2 heatwave alert today, with temperatures of between 37-40 degrees Celsius.

17 other areas, in Kedah, Penang, Perak, Selangor and Johor were under a less severe Level-1 alert.

The Health Minister has denied claims that lobbyists influenced the government's decision to scrap the generational endgame provision.

He says it was solely on the advice of the Attorney General.

The government previously said that the provision, to ban smoking and vaping among those born after 2007, would violate the Federal Constitution.

Separately, Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad says the Health Ministry will expand its PrEP HIV prevention pilot programme to 10 more health clinics this year.

So far, over 3 thousand people have been given medication under PrEP programme.

The Economy Ministry says there are no plans to make it compulsory for companies to comply with its proposed progressive wage policy.

Deputy Minister, Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib also a pilot project will be launched in June and the government will continue to fine-tune the policy after that..

The progressive wage policy is meant to complement the minimum wage policy and the productivity-linked wage system.

And the Public Service Department wants people to ignore a viral poster, claiming that RM700 in special financial aid will be paid out next month.

It says the info on this fake poster was modified from an infographic released two years ago.
