Govt Mulls Monthly Transfers To Channel Aid

Mar 24, 2024

govt mulls monthly transfers to channel aid

The government is considering monthly cash transfers to distribute targeted subsidies.

Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli says if approved this would be the first time such a method is implemented compared to the current practice of handing out aid every three or four months.

He adds that this is part of the government’s attempt to reform social assistance in the long-term, through the use of the PADU database.

Meanwhile, Rafizi also said there are no plans at the moment to extend the March 31st deadline for PADU registrations.

He says any delays would affect the implementation of targeted subsidies.
