Cross Border Crimes On The Rise

Cross-border crimes in Malaysia, especially human trafficking, job scams, drug trafficking, firearms, and smuggling, are on the rise. 

The Home Minister says neighboring countries such as Thailand and Myanmar are also facing the same problem.

As such, the ministry will step up efforts to tighten the grip on such crimes.

The MACC has identified another doctor in its probe into a cartel accused of falsifying SOCSO disability claims. 

The commission says the doctor will be soon be taken into custody. 

Three doctors have already been remanded over the case.

They were among 30 other individuals who were remanded to assist with investigations.

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry and SOCSO say they will cooperate with authorities in their investigation into the incident.

Officials in Johor have ordered schools in Pasir Gudang to temporarily suspend all outdoor activities. 

The district also instructed principals to monitor students and teachers' health conditions.  

This, following the high ammonia gas readings in Sungai Pandan yesterday.   

Earlier today, the state Environment Department assured that the air quality readings have returned to normal.  

However, the specific reason for the high concentration detected yesterday remains unclear.  

This, after the substance caused a chemical odor that spread to several residential areas approximately 10 kilometers away.

Penang DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow says he will not contest in the upcoming state DAP party elections after holding the role for two and a half decades.  

However, Chow stressed that he will remain as the DAP national vice chairman.
