Sugar Grading For Food & Beverages Soon

The Health Ministry will soon introduce a sugar grading system for food and drinks…to encourage Malaysians to cut down on sugar consumption.
Deputy Minister Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni says this grade will be clearly displayed on items, to let consumers know about the sugar content.
This is part of the government’s broader war on sugar campaign to address rising cases of diabetes and obesity.

Do not enroll your children at unregistered childcare centers.
The Women, Family, and Community Development Ministry says these centers do not operate under the same standards as registered ones under the welfare department.
It explained that registered centers are regularly inspected by authorities and have to be staffed by qualified caregivers to ensure there are no negligence, abandonment, or abuse issues.
This, as the ministry identified over a thousand unregistered centers since September last year.

The migration of crimes like fraud, bullying and sexual grooming onto online platforms is one of the key reasons why the government is developing a code of conduct for social media service providers.
The Communications Ministry explains that many of the platforms have not been doing enough to address these problems.

In a related development…the Ministry has instructed the MCMC not to proceed with its directive requiring all internet service providers to implement DNS redirection.
It explained that the commission should hold more engagement sessions with stakeholders first.

The government will discuss with China on possibly extending the tourist visa exemption period for Malaysians travelling to the country.
The Home Ministry is optimistic that Beijing will reciprocate and offer a 30-day exemption instead of the current 15...similar to what Malaysia is offering to visitors from China.
