Unicef Wants Action On Unregulated Welfare Homes
Sep 13, 2024
Unicef is urging authorities to take stricter action against unregulated childcare centers.
It explained that kids are at a higher risk of abuse and neglect at these centers, because there aren’t qualified social workers who can monitor the facilities effectively.
The agency said this in response to a major operation where cops raided 20 welfare homes across two states and rescued over 400 kids from alleged exploitation.
The fund is also urging the government to ensure the young victims get the necessary medical and psychosocial support.
