Terengganu Flood Situation Mostly Unchanged

Met Malaysia has updated its weather alert for the east coast of the peninsular.

The weather agency says a severe continuous rain warning is currently in place for Terengganu, Kelantan and Pahang until this Saturday.

This, as the number of flood evacuees in Terengganu rose slightly to just over 1,900.

According to the Social Welfare Department’s portal…the victims are being housed at relief centers in the districts of Kemaman, Hulu Terengganu and Marang.

The government is currently refining several new criteria for the second phase of registrations for the PADU database.

The Economy Ministry adds that with clear explanations…its confident more Malaysians will sign up under the second phase.

The government is taking steps to make healthcare more affordable for the rakyat including those from the M40 group.

The Finance Ministry says this includes offering improved medical protection plans at affordable rates for EPF contributors via the i-Lindung program.

The Housing and Local Government Ministry says plans are underway to include climate-resilient features in its affordable housing projects as part of the transition towards greener cities.

The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry says no decision has been made yet regarding proposals to withdraw the subsidies for packet cooking oil.
