MH370 Search To Resume

The Cabinet has agreed in principle to resume the search for MH370.  

According to the Transport Minister, the proposal was made by UK company Ocean Infinity, based on new and credible data on the plane's possible location.  

Anthony Loke says the proposed search area is a 15,000 square kilometre zone in the southern Indian Ocean.  

The government is currently finalising the terms of the agreement with Ocean Infinity, and expects a deal to be finalised by year-end, because according to Ocean Infinity, the ideal time to conduct the search is between January and April.  

Loke adds that the search is estimated to cost the government an estimated US$70 million.  

However, there will be a 'No Find, No Fee’ clause, meaning the government will only have to pay up if the wreckage is found. 

239 people were on board the Malaysia Airlines flight when it disappeared, while flying from KL to Beijing back in March 2014.
