Sabah, Sarawak Floods Worsen

Jan 30, 2025

sabah, sarawak floods worsen

More flood victims have been taken to temporary shelters in Sabah and Sarawak.

According to the Social Welfare Department’s portal, around 3,600 people are currently displaced in Sabah.

Meanwhile another 2,100 people are seeking shelter in Sarawak.

This, as MetMalaysia’s continuous rain warning for both states remains in effect until tomorrow.

This includes a danger-level heavy rain warning for Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Bintulu and Miri, Sarawak.

--

Authorities have ended the search operation for the recent Miri landslide after the body of the 5th and final victim was recovered yesterday evening.

Another 7 people were rescued including two who were injured.

Following the incident, the Sarawak government has vowed to step up monitoring and eventive measures in landslide-prone areas, especially in places that are exposed to continuous heavy rainfall.

--

Two people have been injured, after two cars intentionally rammed into a crowd outside a nightclub in Jalan Klang Lama, KL.

Viral footage allegedly showed the vehicles driving into the crowd, that was standing by the side of the road.

They then made a U-turn, going against the flow of traffic before swerving to target the same group.

Brickfields police are investigating the incident for attempted murder, and urged anyone with info to come forward.
