Prepare To Face The Heat

Feb 12, 2025

prepare to face the heat

We should expect temperatures to rise over the next few months.

MetMalaysia said this as we reach the tail-end of the Northeast Monsoon.

It will lead to hotter and dryer conditions in most areas in the Northern Peninsular, as well as Perak, Pahang and Kelantan until May.

During this period, mid-day temperatures could top 35 degrees Celsius.

MetMalaysia adds that some areas could face heatwaves and localised haze, but it won't be as severe as last year.

The National Unity Ministry does not have guidelines for government departments and agencies regarding activities that involve elements of religion.

However, its minister says it has several programmes to bridge the social gap between Malaysians while celebrating cultural diversity, customs, festivals and heritage.

Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang says this is in line with the government's commitment to fostering understanding, respect and acceptance.

He adds that a lack of such efforts could lead to racial tensions and disharmony.

The PM has urged the Education Ministry to speed up the implementation of initiatives to help students improve the mastery of English, especially among those in secondary school.

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says the ministry can no longer rely on outdated approaches to policy implementation, as it can take years to carry out.

He adds that learning other languages like English and Mandarin is crucial for communication and economic opportunities.

And, the Transport Ministry has defended the decision to end PUSPAKOM’s monopoly on vehicle inspection services, saying it creates competition and gives consumers more choice.

It also addressed concerns that three newly-appointed vehicle inspection companies lack experience, saying that there ARE no experienced companies due to the previous monopoly.
