Government To Monitor Express Bus Fares

Bus operators increasing prices during festive seasons is normal.
The Transport Ministry clarified that the hike is not new... and has been implemented for the past two decades.
However, operators are only allowed to impose a 10% surcharge a week before and after the holiday.
As such, the Ministry assured that it will monitor for any drastic or unreasonable price increases ahead of the Aidilfitri period...with action to be taken against offenders.

The Education Ministry says some 48 thousand Year One pupils who were initially unable to read, can now read, write, and count.
The Ministry attributed this to its intervention program, which was launched last March.
The program focuses on assisting teachers so they can better support students who face literacy challenges.

On a separate matter, the Education Ministry is stepping up efforts to address the student dropout problem.
As such, it'll enhance its Student Tracking System with AI to detect at-risk students, those who have dropped out, and children facing barriers to accessing education at an earlier stage.
With this early detection, the ministry can then implement targeted interventions and take action earlier.

The government is working towards allowing refugees registered with the United Nations to work legally in Malaysia.
However, the Federal Territories Ministry says details are still being refined, and that it'll need to take into account labor requirements first.
The ministry adds that it's also looking into other ways to assist these refugees.
