There was a sharp spike in transactions involving Buy Now, Pay Later schemes last year.  

According to the Finance Ministry, such transactions reached RM7.1 billion ringgit in the second half of 2024, compared to RM4.9 billion in the first six months of last year.  

It adds that there are 5.1 million active users of Buy Now, Pay Later schemes, mainly comprising those between the ages of 21 to 45, earning less than RM5,000. 

The Ministry adds that debts under such schemes are still managable, as they account for just 0.2% of total household debt.

Close to 640 Malaysians fell victim to overseas job scams since 2021.  

According to the IGP, around 500 of them have already been rescued and the remainder are still stranded. 

This includes 70 Malaysians who remain stranded in Myanmar.  

Earlier, he said that a second batch of 26 victims are due to return to Malaysia from Myanmar tomorrow.

Astro Audio has welcomed the MCMC's decision to NOT suspend the broadcast license of Era FM over a controversial video on its social media platforms.

Sabah continues to be affected by floods, with the Social Welfare Department's portal close to 5,000 evacuees across 5 districts in the state.   

Meanwhile, the Sabah chief minister has announced that flood victims in the districts of Beaufort and Membakut will receive aid of RM1,300 from both the federal and state governments.
