Initial Pipeline Blast Report Ready By The Weekend
Apr 02, 2025

The initial report into yesterday’s gas pipeline fire in Putra Heights is expected to be ready by this weekend.
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari says a detailed investigation is currently being carried out, with the public urged not to share unverified news or rumours about the cause of the incident.
Meanwhile, police are looking into allegations that the fire may have been caused by digging on reserve land belonging to the pipeline operator.

In a related development, the likelihood of a second explosion and fire in the affected area of Putra Heights is low.
The Fire and Rescue Department says this is because there’s no more gas flow in the affected pipeline following the closure of four main valves earlier yesterday.
It has also been conducting neutralising works in area to ensure that potential harmful elements from the blast do not pose a further fire hazard to the houses there.
-
This, as the Prime Minister announced immediate cash assistance for the affected residents.
He says those whose houses were completely damaged will get 5,000 ringgit for temporary lodging expenses, while those whose homes were affected will get 2,500 ringgit.
The Selangor and Federal governments, as well as the pipeline operator are also seeking the best medium-term housing solution for the residents, since repairs are expected to take a considerable amount of time to be completed.

Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Authority has confirmed that flight operations at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang were not affected by yesterday’s massive fire in Putra Heights.
However, slight adjustments were made to ensure aircraft did not fly over the affected area...which is about six kilometers away from the airport.
