Final Safety Check On Putra Heights Crater

A final safety assessment is being conducted today, on the crater at ground zero of the Putra Heights pipeline fire.
The Fire and Rescue Department says the findings will then be presented to the Selangor Disaster Management Committee.
It adds that work is also being done to drain the crater of pooled rainwater, following heavy downpour.

The Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers says the Putra Heights incident has significantly impacted the operations of around 200 industrial facilities, many of whom need steady gas supply for production.
Among those who are the most severely affected are manufacturers of F&B products as well as industrial gases.

In a related development, today’s Selangor-level Madani Aidilfitri open house has been cancelled, out of respect for the pipeline fire victims.
The state government says all food and preparations for the event, will now be channeled to temporary evacuation centers, orphanages and security personnel.
