Russia Open To Independent MH17 Probe

Russia is ready to cooperate with any independent and impartial investigation into the downing of flight MH17.

This was conveyed to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the PM’s official visit to Russia, during which he managed to bring up the issue with Vladimir Putin.

It comes after the International Civil Aviation Organisation this week found that Russia was responsible for the downing of MH17 back in 2014.

The FRU truck that was involved in the fatal accident in Teluk Intan this week, killing nine personnel, is confirmed to have been roadworthy.

The Home Ministry adds that despite the vehicle’s age, it had a good service and maintenance record.

This, as the Transport Ministry was given a month to come up with a report on the accident, which will be prepared by a special task force comprising experts and independent members.

Starting this year, the Kedah government will not renew any business licences for vape or e-cigarette retailers in the state.

Its part of a stricter polity to curb the threat of synthetic drugs.

According to the Menteri Besar, Kedah ultimately aims to ban the sale of all vape products and related items in the state by next year.

In other developments, police say the husband of a woman who died after being thrown out of van along the Kesas highway earlier this month, is expected to be charged soon.

And elsewhere, medics say at least 80 people have been killed in the latest Israeli airstrike on northern Gaza, with women and children among the fatalities.
