Johor Introduces SOP's For School Vans and Buses

May 23, 2025

johor introduces sop's for school vans and buses

The Johor state government has introduced new SOP’s to keep kids safe while travelling in school vans or buses.

This includes ensuring that drivers are fit for duty and properly trained in first aid… closely monitoring the passengers while they get on and off the vehicle…and making sure they’re safe during the journey.

This comes following the tragic death of a five-year-old boy in Johor earlier this month, after he was left alone inside a school van for nearly five hours.

The Attorney-General’s Chambers has directed that no further action be taken, in connection with the death of political aide Teoh Beng Hock.

It says it had thoroughly reviewed the investigation papers, but found insufficient evidence to bring charges against anyone.

Teoh was found dead in July of 2009, after falling from the fifth floor of a building in Shah Alam, following an overnight interrogation by MACC officers.

The MACC is prepared to open an investigation into the Housing and Local Government Ministry’s MyKiosk initiative, IF it finds elements of corruption or misconduct.

The project has recently come under scrutiny due to the alleged high cost.

The Commission says it has already received a report on the matter, along with documents submitted by the ministry.

-

Police have arrested a second suspect in connection with the recent acid attack on a spa owner in Bachok, Kelantan.

The 45-year-old-man is believed to be a friend of the first female suspect.

Cops are also currently tracking down a third individual.

-

The Prisons Department is seeking the cooperation of the private sector as well as NGO’s, to help fund programs for inmates who want to pursue higher education.

It says many of those serving time have expressed an interest in furthering their studies at the diploma, degree, masters and even PhD level.
