Jul 24, 2025

Thailand and Cambodia have been urged to stand down, after their militaries clashed this morning.
Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, as the ASEAN chair, said both member nations must seek a peaceful resolution to the crisis.
The prime minister says he has already contacted both Thai and Cambodian leaders over the matter and will hold further talks soon.
China has also weighed in on the conflict, urging both nations to resolve their issues through dialogue.
Meanwhile, our embassy in Thailand has urged Malaysians to avoid travelling to the conflict zone for their own safety.
Clashes broke out between Thai and Cambodian forces along their shared border this morning, with both countries accusing each other of starting the violence.
Thai officials say at least 12 people have died, mainly civilians who were caught in the crossfire.
The Cambodian death toll is not immediately known.
Thailand has already closed off its entire border with Cambodia and urged its nationals in Cambodia to leave.
Meanwhile Cambodia has downgraded diplomatic ties with Bangkok.

Also, Datuk Seri Anwar has urged middle-income earners to be patient, as it will take time for the government to address their specific concerns about rising living costs.
He says for now, the govt needs to focus on issues related to the poor and hardcore poor.
He adds that the M40 will also benefit from the special initiatives he announced yesterday, especially the lower RON95 petrol price and the freeze on toll hikes.

The Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister has proposed putting high-ranking police officers in charge of roadblocks, to prevent cases of misconduct.
He said this, after a Taiwanese tourist was allegedly extorted by cops at a roadblock in SS2, Petaling Jaya last week.
