The Prime Minister has ordered all ministers to suspend any overseas trips with immediate effect.

He says this directive will apply across the Cabinet, except for scheduled meetings or matters with specific approval.

This, as part of efforts to ensure they focus on preparations for Budget 2026 and the upcoming ASEAN Summit, which will both take place around the end of October.

The parties involved in the issue regarding the STPM student who claims to have been rejected by UM - despite having a near perfect merit score - need to sit down and seek a resolution.

The Higher Education Ministry says direct discussions will help avoid further speculation and debate that could worsen the situation.

Earlier, the student's case went viral after he was unable to secure a spot in UM’s accountancy course despite having a 99.9% merit score.

However, authorities have since explained that there were many other applicants who had achieved a 100% score, while UM only offered 85 places for the course.

The Malaysian embassy in Nepal is urging our citizens to defer any non-essential travel there for the time being.

Meanwhile, those already in the country are urged to remain indoors until further notice.

This, after the Nepal government extended a curfew there following violent protests that've left at least 20 dead.

The Dewan Negara has passed amendments to the Education Act, which will extend compulsory schooling to the secondary level, as part of efforts to ensure pupils do not drop out after completing Year Six.

And at least nine people have been killed due to flash floods in Bali...with access to the Indonesian island’s international airport also limited to heavy vehicles.
