Israel Intercepts Global Sumud Flotilla

The Foreign Ministry is closely monitoring developments surrounding the Malaysian volunteers with the Global Sumud Flotilla who’ve been detained by Israeli forces.
This, after Israeli forces intercepted the vessels off the coast of Gaza.
Wisma Putra says its currently gathering information and working closely with the PM’s Office to render the necessary assistance.
The Prime Minister will also be contacting world leaders, including from Turkiye and Egypt, to ensure the safe release of the Malaysians.
The PM says all 23 Malaysian activists have been detained by Israeli forces. They are among over 200 international volunteers now in custody.
The Israeli government has since said all detained activists from the flotilla will be deported to Europe.

Meanwhile, hundreds of demonstrators gathered in front of the US embassy in KL today to protest against Israel’s interception of the flotilla, with two demonstrators detained by police.
Hundreds of thousands others have also held pro-Palestinian demonstrations in cities across the world, including in Italy, Germany, Belgium, Greece and Argentina.

In other news…Negeri Sembilan police have confirmed that the death of a 10-year-old boy at a school in Seremban yesterday, is being investigated under anti-bullying laws.
The Education Ministry has also pledged its full cooperation with the police probe.

The Statistics Department says ten districts across eight states – including Seremban, Kuantan and Kluang – have been newly classified as ageing, with residents aged 65 and over reaching at least seven percent of the population.

Elsewhere, rescuers say they’ve detected no further signs of life under the rubble of a collapsed school in Indonesia, where 59 people remain missing.
