jpn is tightening mykad security

The National Registration Department is tightening MyKad security, following reports of the document being misused to claim subsidies.

It says steps are being taken together with the Finance Ministry to improve the identity verification system to ensure the issue does not happen again.

Aid recipients are also urged to immediately lodge a police report if they suspect that their Mykad is being misused.

The Social Welfare Department’s portal shows there are currently just over 80 evacuees seeking shelter at one flood relief center in Pontian Johor.

There are also around 50 people currently housed at an evacuation center in Jasin, Melaka.

In other news…police have so far summoned eight people to assist in the investigation into the death of a climber, who was found dead at the summit of Gunung Liang Barat in Tanjong Malim last week.

The cause of death has been listed as hypothermia.

Public Health Malaysia claims that no influenza self-test kits have been approved by the Medical Device Authority…reminding that a confirmed diagnosis can only be made by a doctor via validated lab tests.

The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority or FAMA has assured that there’s sufficient supply of vegetables and raw materials to cover local demand during the North East Monsoon period.

Around ten people have been injured, after firecrackers unexpectedly exploded during a Deepavali fireworks display in Kulim, Kedah.

Elsewhere, two people in a ground support vehicle were killed, after a cargo plane skidded off the runway into the sea while landing at the Hong Kong International Airport earlier today.

And, Israel says the ceasefire in Gaza is back on, while aid shipments are set to resume…following an earlier violation of the truce by both the Israeli military and Hamas.
