DBKL Hopes For Litter-Free NYE Celebrations

Dec 31, 2025

dbkl hopes for litter-free nye celebrations

DBKL has placed over two dozen rubbish bins around the Bukit Bintang area ahead of New Year’s Eve celebrations tonight.

They will be placed at 50m intervals, to make it easier for revelers to throw away their trash.

This, following the huge amount of litter left by people celebrating Christmas last week.

--

You might want to keep an umbrella handy, if you want to go out to usher in the new year tonight.

This, after MetMalaysia issued an updated weather forecast, which predicts rain for KL and Selangor, as well as Perak, Pahang, Kelantan, Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan.

It will also be a wet New Year’s Day tomorrow, with heavy rain and thunderstorms expected throughout the day for Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Sabah, and Sarawak.

--

Also, Perlis has declared tomorrow as an occasional public holiday in conjunction with New Year’s Day.

Perlis is one of five states, alongside Kedah, Kelantan, Johor, and Terengganu that does not recognise Jan 1st as an official holiday.

--

February 1st, 2026, has been gazetted as a public holiday, as both Thaipusam and Federal Territories Day will fall on that date.

The Peninsular Malaysia Labour Dept says since Feb 1st is a Sunday, employers in federal territories must grant a replacement holiday on Monday.

For employers who select Thaipusam as one of their six optional holidays, a replacement holiday must be given on Tuesday.
