Jan 12, 2026

mcmc blocks grok ai

The Grok AI chatbot on X has been temporarily blocked in Malaysia.

The MCMC explained that the ban is due to repeated misuse by users to generate obscene, sexually explicit, non-consensual manipulated images involving women and minors.

As such, the commission has issued notices to the social media platform to implement safeguards to prevent AI-generated content that goes against Malaysia’s laws.

It adds that access to Grok will remain restricted until effective protective measures are implemented.

There will be an update on the procurement scandal involving senior officers of the armed forces soon.

The Communications Ministry says further clarification will come directly from the Defense Ministry via a statement later today.

This, after the Cabinet was briefed on the matter earlier, amid an MACC investigation into alleged corruption and the misuse of funds.

Malaysia's older adults are among the world's better-performing populations in terms of mental functioning and well-being.

This is according to a major global report assessing the "Mind Health" of internet-enabled adults.

The report found that Malaysia is among the countries where adults aged 55 and above recorded an average score of 110 – which is a level associated with the ability to cope with everyday stress.

The Foreign Ministry says no Malaysians were affected by the recent bomb attacks in southern Thailand.

However, those traveling to the affected areas in Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat have been reminded to remain vigilant.

-

Meanwhile, the ministry has also assured that all Malaysians registered with our embassy in Iran are safe amid the deadly demonstrations there.

The public has also been advised to postpone any non-essential travel to the country.
