Malaysia hopes the US will review its latest immigration policy, which will force foreign students whose classes are fully online, to leave the US.

Wisma Putra says the US hosts the third-largest population of Malaysian students studying abroad, at more than 6,000 students.

Meanwhile, our embassy in Washington has urged Malaysian students to contact their respective universities, so that they can be clear on their immigration status.

The new policy states that students whose courses are fully online due to the COVID-19 pandemic would lose their permission to be in the US and might get deported.

While Form One to Three boarding school students will start from August 3rd.

The new infections are imported cases, meaning there've been no local transmissions for two straight days.

This brings Malaysia's total number of cases to 8,683, but only 60 or so are active infections.

The death toll remains unchanged at 121.
