Works Ministry probing concrete slab incident on highway
Sep 21, 2020
The Works Ministry has warned all parties involved in construction works to comply with the various procedures, specifications and work contracts.
This comes after a woman reportedly cheated death, when her car was crushed by a falling concrete slab from an elevated highway project in Bandar Tasik Selatan on Saturday.
The Ministry assured that stern action will be taken once investigations are completed and it will not compromise on public safety.
The Construction Industry Development Board and Highway Authority have also been instructed to audit all construction works that involve public safety.
The viral incident where a moving car sustained damages near Cheras is not due to a falling object!
KL police say a vehicle carrying a crane had rammed the car and the victim had sustained minor injuries.
They also clarified that this is not related to the SUKE highway construction works.
A new Covid-19 cluster, dubbed the Ara cluster, has been detected in Penang.
The Health Ministry says the index case was a 44-year-old man who tested positive for the coronavirus, after a screening at the Sandakan airport last week.
This comes as we reported 52 new Covid-19 cases nationwide, raising the number of active infections to 734.
