Oct 02, 2020

Malaysia reported 287 new COVID-19 cases today, the highest number recorded so far.

All of the new cases were local transmissions, most of which were from Kedah and Sabah.

Health Director General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah says 20 of the new cases had recently travelled to Sabah.

"Daripada 287 kes tersebut, sebanyak 20 kes merupakan pengunjung yang pulang dari Sabah. Ini menjadikan jumlah kes dilaporkan yang mempunyai sejarah perjalanan ke negeri Sabah sejak 20 September, 2020 adalah sebanyak 139 kes."

Meanwhile, two more clusters were detected today in Selangor's Hulu Selangor and Gombak districts.

The death toll is unchanged at 136.

University students urged to register online

New and existing students getting ready to register for university, have been urged to do so online.

This, as the Higher Education Ministry advised all face-to-face registrations be postponed, due to the rise in COVID-19 cases.

Meanwhile, the ministry says airline companies have AGREED to reschedule student flights until the end of the year.

This, after a number of students had already bought their tickets to return to campus.

US President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump contracts COVID-19

US President Donald Trump says he and first lady Melania Trump have both tested positive for COVID-19.

Earlier this week, Trump was seen traveling with one of his closest advisors, who was later found infected by the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, a new study has found that Trump is the single biggest source of COVID-19 misinformation in the English-speaking world.

The study, which was done by a university in the US, says Trump's statements made up almost 38 percent of coronavirus misinformation found in all English media globally.
