Support on the way to help Sabah cope with Covid-19
Oct 11, 2020
Nearly 500 medical personnel have been deployed to Sabah to help cope with the spike in Covid-19 cases in the state.
The Health Director-General says the teams comprising personnel of various categories and service schemes will be deployed to Tawau, Lahad Datu, Semporna and Kota Kinabalu.
This, as Sabah once again recorded the highest number of new Covid-19 cases at 277 yesterday, with the state also recording three new fatalities.
Overall, 374 new cases were reported nationwide…taking the number of active cases to 4,161.
The Health Ministry also announced six new clusters – four in Selangor and one each in Sabah and Sarawak.
Meanwhile, the Air Force is stepping in with daily flights to transport swab samples to the peninsular for testing, as labs in Sabah struggle to cope with the high number of daily tests.
The military will also be setting up a makeshift field hospital in Tawau to treat non-Covid 19 cases, to allow government hospitals there to focus their attention on coronavirus patients.
Many still breaching S.O.P.'s
The authorities continue to come down hard on those who breach health protocols and SOP’s under the recovery MCO.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that 450 individuals were caught for various offences in the latest round.
Top of the list of offences was failing to wear face masks, followed by involvement in entertainment activities and failing to observe physical distancing.
